Update on Dining Union Negotiations
Thursday, August, 24th, 2023 Dining
Dear Tufts community members,
Tufts is committed to providing transformative experiences in an inclusive and collaborative environment. At the core of this mission are our people. From facilities and dining centers to classrooms and labs, our people drive the university forward. To work at Tufts is to be an integral part of something special—a welcoming, collegial culture that supports its employees with fair compensation and benefits as well as opportunities for professional growth.
The university values its relationship with all staff and respects when groups elect to unionize and collectively bargain. We have open lines of communication with all the unions represented on our campuses and work diligently to cultivate strong and productive relationships with each of them. When contracts are in negotiation, we are committed to constructive engagement at the bargaining table, working together with union representatives to find solutions that are fair and equitable for all employees, while also being responsible stewards of university resources.
Today, I am pleased to announce that UNITE-HERE Local 26 has ratified an agreement that the university and union have negotiated for dining employees. The terms of the new contract will provide our dining employees with competitive compensation and benefits, and we look forward to continuing our productive relationship based on mutual trust and respect.
Respectfully yours,
Mike Howard
Executive Vice President
